The Gospel of Death blog, a blog that focuses on the Bible’s concept of heaven, recently published a video explaining the concepts of heaven and hell.
“It’s like a roller coaster that you go through at the end of a long day of work,” said Paul Kelleher, a writer and lecturer at Western Michigan University.
“At the end, you’re all like, ‘Yeah, that was pretty good.’
And then you go into the next roller coaster and you feel like you’ve been robbed of your life.”
Kellehart explained that hell is a place of punishment.
“We know that hell was created for sinners, and so we believe that that is the punishment of sinners in heaven,” he said.
Kellehels experience is not unique to Christianity.
A study by the University of Texas found that about 10 per cent of Christians believe the Bible is about hell.
Keltner said he was surprised to hear about such a high percentage of believers who believed the Bible was about hell because hell is often a place where sinners are punished for their sins.
“I think a lot of people, particularly Christians, are a little bit shocked that this is a part of the Christian faith,” he told CBC News.
“People think hell is for those who don’t deserve it.
They’re kind of surprised to learn that it’s not.”
But not all Christians agree.
“The Bible doesn’t say that the devil is punished in hell,” Kelter said.
“I mean, it does say the devil does get a punishment.
And there’s a whole chapter about the punishment that the Lord sends to him.
It’s not necessarily a punishment in hell, but a punishment of sorts.”
Kelters video says the Bible teaches hell to be the place of torment.
“The Bible does not say that there is an afterlife.
But it says that there will be a place for all who sin against the Lord and who do not repent, that will be purged from the earth and will be sent into the burning hell of the second death,” he explained.
“This is the only place that the wicked will be punished.”
According to Keltern, hell is the place for those that do not live up to God’s commandments.
“If you want to be in heaven, go to hell,” he says.
“That’s what it says in the Bible.”
